Questions and Answers
Do I have a choice of where I go to physical or occupational therapy?
Yes. By law it’s your choice of where you choose to go. Your doctor may suggest a clinic or refer you to his own clinic, but you do not need to go where you are automatically referred by your doctor’s office.
Will I see the same therapist at each session?
Yes. You will see either Tracy Brooks, OT or Andy York, PT at each session.
How long will my therapy session last?
1-1 ½ hours.
Will you file my insurance?
Yes. Rhonda Goodwin at the front desk will be glad to assist you with this process. Please call her at (318) 396-2044.
Can I come by and tour this facility prior to starting therapy?
Yes. Tracy Brooks or Andy York would be more than happy to show you around Lakewood and explain the process of therapy.
If I start therapy at another facility and I am not happy, can I transfer to Lakewood?
Yes. All we need is a prescription for therapy.
Can I just walk in and start therapy?
No. We will first need an OT/PT order from a Physician, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant.
Can I come by and get an opinion about my injury or situation?
Yes. We would be glad to give you our professional opinion about your problem.
What should I bring to my first visit?
Please bring your insurance card, driver’s license, and a list of current medications. You will need to be able to list your medical history and past surgeries.
What should I wear to therapy?
Wear what you would wear to “work out” or any comparable comfortable clothing. If it is your shoulder that is receiving therapy, wear a shirt with a loose neck or a button up shirt that you can slide off. Ladies- wear a camisole or sports bra for modesty’s sake. If it is your knee, wear shorts or pants that can be pushed all the way up. There is a place to change if you need to.
