Tracy Brooks

Tracy graduated from Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, Louisiana (now ULM) with a degree in Occupational Therapy in 1997. He holds an additional degree from NLU (1991) in Business/Finance with a minor in Economics. He has worked at Lakewood since they opened the doors in 2003 as the co-owner and now is the owner and manager of the business. He is dedicated to keeping the clinic's atmosphere friendly and warm where the patients feel like they are part of the "Lakewood family". He is married to Sally and has three children- Colin, Spencer, and Claire. When he is not at work, he is either on his bike, running, or watching his children's sporting activities!

Will White

Meet Will White, a licensed physical therapist who graduated from Southwest Baptist University in Missouri with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2018. After completing his studies, he moved to Jackson, TN where he worked for three years in the outpatient setting. As Monroe natives, Will and his wife Coty Brooke decided to move back home in 2021. Together, they have two four-legged girls named Ellie and Opal. In his free time, Will enjoys spending time with his family and friends, playing golf, and cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and LSU Tigers. With a passion for helping patients achieve their goals and get back to the lifestyle they enjoy, Will is dedicated to providing exceptional care to his patients.

Thomas Lewis

Thomas Lewis, Head Therapy Tech, is a local product of West Monroe. He has lived here all his life, never moving away from 71291. Thomas has worked in the Physical/Occupational field since 1987. He has experience in inpatient, outpatient, wound care, geriatrics, pediatrics, and many other disciplines of therapy. He even taught a PT Tech class for 5 years. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, listening to live music, and watching movies.

Elizabeth Underwood

Elizabeth Underwood is the office manager here at Lakewood. She was born and raised in Chatham, LA. She is a dog-mom to 3 beautiful rescues, Cotton, Penelope, and Santana. In her spare time, you will find her with family and her fur-babies. Her interests involve traveling, bargain shopping, photography, singing in the car, and anything that involves the outdoors. Before Elizabeth started working for Lakewood, she worked as a certified nursing assistant for 11 years. Elizabeth's welcoming smile, down-to-earth and caring personality will handle all your billing needs and answer any/all questions you have to help you become a part of our Lakewood family.

Michelle Underwood

Michelle Underwood was raised in the small town of Chatham, LA. She has 2 daughters, Elizabeth and Hillary. Her hobbies include trying to keep up with her 2 dogs, Sebastian and Baxter, spending time with her family and friends, and traveling. Michelle has 36 years of experience with customer service. Before Michelle started working with us, she worked as the manager at a clothing store for 10+ years. Michelle's warm smile, contagious laugh, and charming personality will welcome you in the door and help you with your scheduling needs.

Questions and Answers

Do I have a choice of where I go to physical or occupational therapy?​

  • Yes. By law it’s your choice of where you choose to go. Your doctor may suggest a clinic or refer you to his own clinic, but you do not need to go where you are automatically referred by your doctor’s office.

Will I see the same therapist at each session?

  • Yes. You will see either Tracy Brooks, OT or Will White, PT at each session.

How long will my therapy session last?​

  • 1-1 ½ hours.

Can I come by and tour this facility prior to starting therapy?

  • Yes. Tracy Brooks or Will White would be more than happy to show you around Lakewood and explain the process of therapy.

Can I just walk in and start therapy?

  • No. We will first need an OT/PT order from a Physician, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant.

What should I bring to my first visit?

  • Please bring your insurance card, driver’s license, and a list of current medications. You will need to be able to list your medical history and past surgeries.

Physical Therapy Physical Therapy is the treatment of physical dysfunction or injury by the use of therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, and the application of modalities, intended to restore or facilitate normal function or development.

Occupational Therapy Occupational Therapy, often abbreviated as "OT", is an applied science and health profession that provides skilled treatment to help individuals achieve and maintain independence in all facets of their lives. OT gives people the "skills for the job of living" necessary for independent and satisfying lives.

Sports Injuries Sports injuries are injuries that cause musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction limiting one’s ability to perform or participate in their sport.

Industrial Rehabilitation Industrial rehabilitation includes the work hardening program which is a highly structured, goal oriented, individualized treatment program designed to maximize the person’s ability to return to work.

Hand and Wrist Rehabilitation Hand and Wrist Rehabilitation includes but is not limited to arthritis of the hand, carpal tunnel syndrome, deQuervain’s tendinitis , wrist fractures, hand and finger fractures, joint sprains, joint dislocation, wrist pain, ganglion cyst, skier’s thumb, mallet finger, sensory nerve evaluation, scar and edema management, desensitization, and sensory reinnervation.

Elbow and Shoulder Rehabilitation Elbow and Shoulder Rehabilitation includes but is not limited to lateral epicondyitis or “tennis elbow”, medial epicondylitis or“golfer’s elbow”, UCL reconstruction, impingement, rotator cuff repair, adhesive capulitis/ frozen shoulder, anterior/posterior instability.

Neck and Back Rehabilitation Neck and Back Rehabilitation includes but is not limited to sprains/strains, disc, cervicogenic headaches, thoracic outlet syndrome, sacroiliac pain, stabilization, fusion/post surgery.

Knee Rehabilitation Knee Rehabilitation includes but is not limited to total and partial knee replacements, ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair, patellar femoral, patellar realignment.

Ankle and Foot Rehabilitation Ankle and Foot rehabilitation includes but is not limited to injuries, fusion, sprains/strains, tendon repair.

Hip Rehabilitation Hip rehabilitation includes but is not limited to total hip replacement, IT band/ Bursitis.

TMJ Treatment TMJ or temporomandibular joint disorder pain can be treated non-invasively by a physical therapist. He will use modalities such as moist heat, massage, ultrasound, iontophoresis, TENS unit, and stretching exercises to name a few.

Vestibular Rehabilitation Vestibular rehabilitation includes the treatment of vertigo and BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo).

Gait Training Gait training includes non weight bearing, partial weight bearing, and full weight bearing.

Orthotics Orthotics includes custom-fit arch support designed to improve foot and lower extremity alignment; commonly used with posterior tibialis tendonitis, flat feet, high arches or plantar fasciitis.

Cervical and Lumbar Traction Cervical and Lumbar traction is the application of a longitudinal force to the spine and associated structure. Can be applied with continuous of intermittent tension. May be applied manually or with a mechanical device.

McKenzie Back Program McKenzie Back Program is a specific treatment approach to low back pain which has been found to be very effective in treating disc disorders.

Postural Restoration Postural Restoration is the utilization of integrated manual and non-manual techniques to restore position and tone of a common pattern seen in all humans. We believe the key to injury prevention and treatment is restoration of faulty movement strategies and muscular imbalances. When imbalance occurs in the body; joints, bones, and muscles are affected resulting in pain and dysfunction.
